About Me
G I’m a native of Oakland, California. I began playing guitar at age 13 and studied music and performance at a local music store. I spent hours listening to my mother’s vinyl records- Elvis, Duane Eddy, Buddy Holly, Bill Haley and the Comets and Chuck Berry. She was an avid fan of early rock and roll records which we listened to most every day. I challenged myself by learning lead guitar riffs from albums of early Blues and British Invasion groups, The Beatles, John Mayall’s Blues Breakers, The Yardbirds, Jimi Hendrix, Cream The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Who and Free to mention just a few. These classic rock bands featured some of the best rock guitarists of my generation. They became a major influence on my playing style and guitar tone.
At 18, I began my musical career playing lead guitar in local rock bands, while still attending college. I later developed my performance skills touring the country with multiple rock and show bands. I became passionately focused on composing my own songs while traveling from show to show and during my down time alone.
I relocated to Rockland, NY; then to NY City’s “east village,” forming the new wave band, The Papers. together with singer JT Barone, bassist Rick Reineke and drummer Tommy Arundel. The Papers recorded and toured throughout the early to mid-80’s, performing alongside many notable artists, including Humble Pie, Novo Combo, The Blasters, The Shirts at the iconic clubs Max’s Kansas City, CBGB’s, Tramps, Great Gildersleeve and Interferon The Papers recorded a single album at Song Shop Studios in NYC with producer Ronny Rogers known for his song (Deputy of Love).
Forward musical motion landed me in L A where I continued to perform my original songs with the bands Wall to Wall and 1-Hero. We quickly became part of the 80’s LA music scene performing at Doug Weston’s Troubadour, The Viper Room, Madam Wong’s, the Whisky A-Go-Go, the Central, FM Station, The Blue Lagoon, The Gas Light, and The Palomino. Although never having had a major HIT on the radio, I’m still enjoying one hell-of-a musical journey…
I’m now based in NJ and continue to write and record my songs, while collaborating with singer Holly Jebb and musicians on both coasts. I often perform at New York and New Jersey clubs, bars, and private events. Please check out my music download page… I hope you dig the tunes!
